LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Lebanese immigrant Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night, but all she could think about was her next meal.
Asked how she felt after winning the 59th annual competition, the 24-year-old Arab-American from Dearborn, Mich. joked: "Ask me after I've had a pizza."
Fakih said her family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths. She won the title despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.
For her victory, Fakih receives a one-year lease in a New York apartment with living expenses, an undisclosed salary, and various health, professional and beauty services.
The University of Michigan graduate plans to attend law school after her Miss USA reign ends next year.
Miss Oklahoma, Morgan Elizabeth Woolard, was the first runner-up at the pageant, held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
