WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actress Mischa Barton was arrested for driving under the influence and other charges after her car was stopped by sheriff's deputies early Thursday morning in West Hollywood, Calif.
The former star of "The O.C." was taken into custody at 2:46 a.m. by Los Angeles County sheriff's officials.
The 21-year-old actress was being held in a West Hollywood jail on $10,000 bail.
According to the arrest report, police noticed Barton's car had been weaving back and forth, crossing the traffic line that runs down the middle of North La Cienega Boulevard. Police further noticed that Barton failed to signal before making a turn.
Barton was taken into custody and transported to the sheriff's West Hollywood station, where she was booked and processed. It was at that time that police learned the actress was an unlicensed driver, and that she was intoxicated, the sheriff's department said.
Barton was charged with three criminal counts: driving under the influence, possession of illegal narcotics and driving without a valid license.
Calls to her manager and publicist weren't immediately returned.
Barton appeared on "The O.C." until the third-season finale. She co-stars in the upcoming high school movie "The Sophomore" (also known as "Assassination of a High School President") with Reece Thompson, which is due out in April.
