HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — There's a reason Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston both talked about tears recently on Twitter - the couple broke up over the weekend.
According to sources, the pair ended their nine-month romance on the eve of Cyrus departing for Savannah, Ga., where the 16-year-old star is shooting her new movie, "The Last Song."
"Tears are words the heart can't express," Cyrus wrote Sunday night on her Twitter account.
"How many tears are in there? They've gotta run out soon, right?" wondered Gaston the following morning.
According to E! News, there has been friction ever since Cyrus started spending more time with her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas. While the 20-year-old underwear model never publicly complained, a source told E! that the reunion was the beginning of the end.
"She obviously has been hanging out with Nick again a lot, and Justin was cool with it at first, as long as it was just a cool, friendly thing," explained the insider. "She didn't cheat, but I guess Nick was trying to get her back the whole time."
While it remains to be seen whether Cyrus and Jonas get back together, they'll at least be joining forces on the air soon. The pair's new duet, "Before the Storm," is set to premiere Friday on Radio Disney.
