HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — You can forget about M.I.A. walking down the aisle in a traditional wedding gown when she marries her longtime beau, Benjamin Bronfman.
"I've always wanted to get married in a white suit," the 34-year-old eclectic singer, who welcomed a son with her fiancé last year, tells GQ magazine.
So where did the London-born Sri Lankan star get her wedding fashion inspiration?
"I used to work at a Kodak lab in England, cutting photos after they'd come out of the wash," she explains, "and in one I saw this couple getting married on a beach in white suits, and their kid was there."
While M.I.A. is known for her politically-charged lyrics, motherhood seems to be softening up the "Paper Planes" singer. After welcoming their first child, M.I.A. and Bronfman packed their bags, moving from New York's Brooklyn to Brentwood, Calif.
"I wanted an environment where I could have a lot of friends and family come and stay," she explains. "That was the important part for me. And in New York I wouldn't have been able to afford someplace where I could have, like, all my friends come and crash out and where I could still have a baby."
M.I.A.'s third album, /\/\ /\ Y /\, drops on July 13.
