HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Singer Melissa Etheridge is planning to marry her girlfriend Tammy Lynn Michaels, according to TV's Extra.
The longtime couple, who exchanged vows in a 2003 commitment ceremony, are aiming to tie the knot before next month's California vote that could reverse same-sex marriages.
"Yes, we have four children and we're trying to find the right time," Etheridge told the news show.
In 2006, Etheridge, 47, and Michaels, 33, welcomed twins, son Miller Steven and daughter Johnnie Rose. Etheridge also has two children from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher — daughter Bailey Jean and son Beckett.
Etheridge and Michaels, an actress best known for her roles on the WB's "Popular" and Showtime's "The L Word," would join a growing list of celebrity couples who have taken advantage of May's California Supreme Court ruling that granted same-sex couples the right to marry. Other star couples who have previously tied the knot include talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi, as well as "Star Trek" star George Takei and boyfriend Brad Altman.
