HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves welcomed a baby boy Monday evening in Los Angeles, a rep for the actor confirmed to People magazine.
The couple's first child, who was named Levi, according to Us Weekly, was born at 6:22 p.m. local time and weighed 7 lb., 4 oz.
McConaughey, 38, who has been dating the 24-year-old Brazilian model since 2006, first announced the couple was expecting on his Web site in January.
"Got some blessed news ... a celebration of life and bounty ... a newborn concieved (sic) ... yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together," McConaughey wrote.
"We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father," he added.
The Texas native, who has been one of Hollywood's most famous bachelors over the years, having dated Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd and Penélope Cruz, opened up being a dad for the first time earlier this year.
"It's not a science, but I think I've got the instincts for it," he told Entertainment Tonight. "One thing I've heard that's consistent is, 'whatever plans you make, throw them out the window!' "
