HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Marie Osmond's teenaged son, Michael Blosil, has died, a family spokesperson said Saturday.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 18-year-old committed suicide by leaping to his death from his Los Angeles apartment building around 9 p.m. Friday.
"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," Osmond said in a statement.
Michael, one of the entertainer's eight children, entered a rehab facility in 2007 for a never disclosed reason. ET reports that the star's child left behind a note explaining he intended to end his life after a lengthy battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.
"Please pray for my sister and her family," her brother, Donny Osmond, told ET when reached by phone early Saturday.
Donny and Marie's show scheduled for Saturday night at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas has been cancelled.
