LONDON — Two weeks after slamming the media's portrayal of her behavior, Lily Allen is apologizing for her actions at Tuesday night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London.
"Last time I wrote here, I was defending my honor and dignity, explaining my innocence and also outrage at the press for insinuating my behavior was embarrassing," the 23-year-old singer wrote in a blog on her MySpace page. "This time I'm putting my hands up, I got very drunk last night, too drunk. It's not cool getting that drunk."
Despite needing to be carried out of the ceremony, the night was not a complete waste as Allen received the Editor's Special Award in honor of her many talents.
"With reams of column inches to match her considerable talents, no Women of the Year line-up could be complete without the one and only Lily Allen," Glamour editor Jo Elvin told The Daily Telegraph.
The chat-show host said she was thankful that her little brother, Alfie, got her home safely, and she warned her fans, "Kids, drink responsibly or you'll end up looking like this, not pretty!"
Allen, who is currently working on her second album, recently went on the defense after topless photos of her started making the rounds.
"I don't really like to respond to things I read about myself in the press but, for the record I was not thrown off anybody's yacht in Cannes," the "Smile" singer wrote in a MySpace blog on May 23. "Occasionally I drink wine with lunch, and yes, I swim topless. This, in my book, is not embarrassing behavior."
"It's not my fault if photographers follow me everywhere and need a story to print with their pointless pictures," she added. "I wish digital cameras hadn't been invented. If these photographers had to pay for film, it wouldn't be worth their time."
