NEW YORK — Lil Wayne's latest court date literally went up in smoke.
The 27-year-old rapper's sentencing in a gun case was postponed Tuesday by a basement fire that shut down Manhattan's main criminal courthouse. The hearing has since been rescheduled for Monday, according to MTV News.
This is the second time Lil Wayne has received a temporary reprieve. Last month, the "Lollipop" singer had his sentencing delayed in order to complete a dental surgery procedure before heading to jail.
In October, Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in a plea deal expected to land him behind bars for a year. Police stopped the Grammy winner's tour bus in Manhattan after a concert performance on July 22, 2007, resulting in the discovery of a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic gun. Authorities later used a DNA profiling technique to tie Lil Wayne to the gun found on the bus.
Lil Wayne took advantage of his extra freedom last night when he jumped onstage with Young Jeezy during Jay-Z's headlining tour stop at Madison Square Garden.
