HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lil Wayne is creating excitement with the debut of his new single, "Right Above It," which features Canadian rapper Drake.
Lil Wayne, who began serving a yearlong jail sentence for gun possession in March, discussed his new music Tuesday night during a radio interview with New York Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex.
"It's going to drop before Tha Carter IV, only on the Internet," the rapper said from prison. "This is stuff that I recorded right before I came here."
"Right Above It" is the first song to be released from Lil Wayne's forthcoming album, I'm Not a Human Being, The new record is slated to drop on Sept. 27, which is the Grammy winner's 28th birthday.
Last month, Lil Wayne promised fans they wouldn't be disappointed in his latest material.
"Let me be the first to tell you that the lyrics that I'm writing are... well there's no word that I can think of that properly defines them," he said on his website. "Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair."
