HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Laura Leighton has found life again on the CW's updated version of "Melrose Place."
The 40-year-old actress is the first star from the original series to sign on for the new cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In reprising her role of the scheming Sydney Andrews, Leighton will prove that you really can come back from the grave. When last seen on "Melrose" in 1997, Sydney was presumed dead after being struck by a car on her wedding day. The scene capped the dramatic fifth-season finale of the nightime soap, which previously aired on Fox.
Sources tell the trade publication that Sydney will be the landlord on the updated series.
"Melrose" was not only Leighton's first acting gig, it also landed her a husband in co-star Doug Savant. The pair married in 1999 and have two children together, Jack and Lucy.
The Iowa native's casting mirrors that of Jennie Garth, who reprised her role of Kelly Taylor on the CW's updated "90210."
Leighton joins a "Melrose" cast that includes previously announced tenants Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Katie Cassidy, Jessica Lucas, Michael Rady, Colin Egglesfield, Shaun Sipos and Stephanie Jacobsen.
