HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — After 48 days behind bars, actor Kiefer Sutherland will be released from jail on Monday, according to reports.
The "24" star began serving his sentence at L.A.'s Glendale City Jail on Dec. 5 for his second DUI conviction and for violating probation.
The actor, outfitted in an orange jumpsuit, has been housed alone in an 8-by-10-foot cell, however he is not confined to it, as he has access to a larger day room with a TV.
According to Officer John Balian, Sutherland has been a model citizen during his stay.
"Throughout his stay, he never griped, never complained," Balian tells People magazine. "He never wanted preferential treatment from the get go, and we respect him for that."
The actor has reportedly spent his days on laundry duty and occasionally doing clean-up work, such as emptying trash bins and mopping up.
In addition to spending Christmas and New Year's behind bars, the actor also "celebrated" his 41st birthday (Dec. 21) in prison.
Sutherland, who has yet to welcome any visitors outside of his attorney, has been the recipient of a large amount of fan mail according to Balian, who added there are no special arrangments being for the actor's departure next week.
"He'll be let out the front door just like everyone else," he says. "I have no idea who'll be picking him up."
