HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kendra Wilkinson is thankful to have escaped her wild teenage years, which were filled with drugs and alcohol.
"I've been through a lot and I've gotten through it," the 25-year-old reality star confessed on Tuesday's Today Show.
Wilkinson was on hand to promote her new memoir, Sliding Into Home, which details a troubled past that also included working as a stripper.
"It wasn't like I was a druggie stripper," she said. "I was a very good person doing it, but I was kind of still embarrassed about it. I didn't want to tell my mom."
Wilkinson said she was acting out as she dealt with the pain of her father leaving the family.
"I always knew that it was wrong," Wilkinson said of her past behavior. "I kind of lost myself for a little bit. The drugs and everything, that's what found me and accepted me."
"It wasn't me," she continued. "I'm that that tomboy, I'm that kid that loves sports. That wasn't me."
And now that she's a proud mother and happily married to football star Hank Baskett?
"I'm safe. I'm home," she said. "I'm where I've always wanted to be."
