HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The ward at Seattle Grace Hospital could be losing a few key staff members.
Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight will reportedly leave "Grey's Anatomy," their co-star, James Pickens, told Us Weekly.
"Yes, she is," James, who plays Dr. Richard Webber on the show, told the mag when asked if Heigl was leaving the hit ABC show.
Heigl will reportedly have some company, as James said Knight is also planning to exit.
"He's going too," said James. "He just wanted to pursue other career paths."
Fellow "Grey's" co-star Eric Dane appeared on Wednesday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show," where the host pressed but got very little in return.
"I don't really comment," said Dane, who said the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, would have to be the one making an announcement. "I worked with them this morning, and they were both very present."
"I know you want to know, and I get it, but until the boss says this is going down, it's not happening," he added.
Reps for the series have yet to publicly comment on the report, but sources told Us that the show's writers are already working on Knight's finale.
"Writers are scrambling to find a believable exit for George, one that would leave the door open for him to come back someday," said the source.
While their departures would seem to be a major blow, some close to the series aren't overly upset.
"He complains to Katherine all the time," one series source told Us of Knight. "The energy on set will be much better when he's gone."
