HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — If Jon Gosselin is looking to save his family, he should perhaps consider a different route than running to the bank.
Kate Gosselin is accusing her estranged husband of leaving her with nearly nothing after taking $200,000 from their joint bank account.
TMZ reports that the 34-year-old Kate has hired Hollywood heavyweight attorney Marty Singer in an effort to recoup the dough, with plans to go after Jon in a Pennsylvania court Monday. Under the terms of a previous court order, neither side is allowed to withdraw from the account without the other person's consent.
The news capped a wild week for the couple that began with TLC's announcement to rebrand "Jon & Kate Plus 8" to simply "Kate Plus 8." That was followed by Jon's legal efforts to stop shooting on the Bravo show, which led to the network saying it would refrain from filming the couple's eight children until both parents came to an agreement. Despite the family friction, Jon said he's only looking out for his family's best interests.
"I want to work things out," he said on "Larry King Live" last week. "We know we're not going to be husband and wife, but we will always be mom and dad. We have to get our kids off television."
