HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — After months of behavior that left many fans questioning his every move, Jon Gosselin appears to be changing course.
The reality TV father is seeking a delay in the divorce proceedings with his estranged wife Kate Gosselin, according to In Touch Weekly. He tells the mag that "even though we were heading for a divorce, it appeared that Kate had been suffering from this divorce as much as I had. That's why I asked my attorney to put the brakes on this divorce so I could try to regain control over the future of our family. So Kate and I could join on a cooperative course that would benefit our family — not destroy it."
In June, the estranged couple announced plans to divorce on their TLC series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which features the raising of their sextuplets and twins. While they were scheduled to be officially divorced by the end of November, Jon is said to have filed for a 90-day halt to the proceedings.
"He is hoping to inspire his wife to become less rigid, inflexible and controlling and open up," his attorney, Mark Jay Heller, explains of the filing. "We're hoping Jon and Kate can sit down together and start exploring what to do about their situation."
Jon has been a tabloid favorite ever since the initial divorce filing, flaunting his relationship with new girlfriend Hailey Glassman and partying across the country. Last month, he went as far as to say he "despised" his estranged wife during an interview that aired on ABC.
"I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated," Jon says now. "I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon."
While the fate of the couple remains to be seen, Jon's camera time is about to be lessened. On Tuesday, TLC announced that it was changing the show's title to "Kate Plus Eight," with an emphasis on the life of a single mother.
