HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — So how does Jessica Simpson feel about ex-husband Nick Lachey getting engaged to Vanessa Minnillo?
"I am extremely, extremely happy for him," the 30-year-old star told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Thursday. "I couldn't be more happy for Nick."
Some tabloids have suggested that Simpson was upset when the engagement news broke last week, but she insists that's not the case.
"I don't know where all those rumors came from," explained Simpson, who split with Lachey in 2005 after three years of marriage. "My mom actually called me and told me that everybody was saying that I was 'saddened.' And I was just in complete shock."
"You know, our relationship was over a really long time ago, so it would be nice if everybody could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa," continued Simpson. "I do, and I wish them nothing but the best."
As for Simpson's own love life, she is looking forward to celebrating the holidays for the first time with new beau Eric Johnson. The former NFL star will be joining her in a few weeks when Simpson attends the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
"My first New York Thanksgiving!" she said. "I know his family's going to be with us on the float at the Macy's Day Parade, and my family will be there."
