HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — ABC is sticking with a winning formula and giving another rejected contestant a shot at love.
On Wednesday, the network announced fan favorite Jason Mesnick as its newest "Bachelor."
The 32-year-old Mesnick proposed to DeAnna Pappas on the most recent season of The Bachelorette, but she chose to marry Jesse Csincsak instead.
Pappas herself had previously dealt with rejection on the show after not receiving a proposal from Brad Womack on the Bachelor's 11th season. She and Csincsak have already set a wedding date of May 9, 2009.
Mesnick, a divorcee who is a single father to 3-year-old son Ty, already has plenty of female admirers. In July, the estate planner told People magazine that he was setting up a unique e-mail account just to handle his growing fan mail.
"I've gotten thousands of comments from fans," the Washington resident said. "The generosity and the kindness is unbelievable. Every one is so sweet and nice. All the comments are pure love."
Mesnick will begin his search for romance among 25 women when the 13th season kicks off in January.
