HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tori Spelling has signed on to reprise her role of Donna Martin on the upcoming CW spinoff of "Beverly Hills, 90210," the network announced Tuesday.
In the contemporary spinoff of the hit 90's teen soap, Martin will be "the owner of one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills, a shopping hot spot that is frequented by the new cast of characters," the network said in a statement.
Spelling joins fellow original cast member Jennie Garth as a recurring character on the updated version of the series. Garth signed on earlier this month to play a guidance counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly Hills High School.
The new "90210" looks at life through the eyes of Annie Mills (Shenae Grimes, "Degrassi: The Next Generation") and her brother Dixon (Tristan Wilds, "The Wire"), whose first day at West Beverly Hills High leaves no doubt they're not in Kansas anymore.
The Mills family, including dad Harry (Rob Estes, "Melrose Place") and mom Debbie (Lori Loughlin, "Summerland"), has relocated to Beverly Hills to keep an eye on Harry's mother Tabitha (Jessica Walter, "Arrested Development"), a feisty-but-faded former television star and a charter member of the Betty Ford Clinic.
Other cast members include Dustin Milligan, 22, who will play a likeable star athlete named Ethan, and AnnaLynne McCord, 20, who will portray Naomi, considered one of the most popular girls at West Beverly High.
The original "90210" was created by Spelling's late father, Aaron Spelling.
Earlier this month, the 34-year-old actress admitted she was hoping to return to her old stomping grounds.
"It was always my dad's dream and intention to make a new '90210' before he passed, so I know he is proud and he would be even more proud if I were a part of it," she told People magazine.
