HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It appears David Cook is a winner in the romance department as well.
The 25-year-old rocker, who walked away with the "American Idol" crown last week, has found romance in the arms of season two alum Kimberly Caldwell.
"She's great," Cook told TV's Extra. "So far, I've had a really good time with her."
Cook even put his cards on the table while being interviewed by the 26-year-old Caldwell on the TV Guide Network's "Idol Tonight" show.
"I'm just excited because I finally get to talk to you," he told her. "I've been hearing you say all these nice things about me all season, So I'm actually going to ask you to dinner right now."
Caldwell readily accepted his proposal, although Cook's apparent lack of knowledge on his new lover's own music career may come back to haunt him someday.
"I knew who she was, but I can't remember a song that she sang," he revealed to Extra. "I'm probably in the dog house now."
Cook easily defeated teen sensation David Archuleta last week by a margin of 12 million votes out of a record 97.5 million cast by viewers.
"I'm absolutely at a loss for words right now," the Blue Springs, Mo. native told the crowd after being revealed as the winner. "This is amazing. Thank you."
