HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Hayden Panettiere's father pleaded no contest Thursday to misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting his wife, TMZ reports.
Alan Lee Panettiere, 49, received a two-year probation at the Beverly Hills court hearing. He was ordered to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and pay $400 in fines.
The actor's father was arrested in August after he allegedly struck his wife Lesley in the cheek. The star's parents reportedly got into an argument shortly after they arrived home from a charity event held at Eva Longoria's nearby Beso restaurant in Hollywood.
Shortly after his arrest, Panettiere told Extra that the whole incident was "a misunderstanding."
In October, a judge issued a protective order against Panettiere, which remains in place.
