HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Leighton Meester is coming to a radio near you.
The 23-year-old "Gossip Girl" star has signed a record deal with Universal Republic, with plans to release her debut album in the fall, according to Billboard.
Meester, who stars as the queen bee Blair Waldorf on the hit CW series, has been in the studio since March, working alongside such producers as Polow Da Don, Harvey Mason Jr. and Spencer Nezey. Her sound is described as having an "electro-pop edge."
"I'm thrilled to be welcomed into the Universal Republic fold," Meester said in a statement. "Their reputation for nurturing artists combined with a willingness to break new ground makes it the ultimate environment for me to enjoy making music and explore my own creative boundaries."
Meester isn't the only "Gossip" star with a passion for music. Ed Westwick is the lead singer for the English indie rockers The Filthy Youth, while Taylor Momsen fronts the group Pretty Reckless, which was recently chosen to open for the Aussie-sister duo The Veronicas.
