HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan is recovering in a New York City hospital after undergoing heart bypass surgery on Tuesday.
The procedure came about after a visit to the hospital turned up an irregular heartbeat, McClanahan's manager, Barbara Lawrence, told Reuters.
"She's fine, so it could not have gone better," said Lawrence.
McClanahan, 75, played Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls. The hit series, which also starred Betty White and late actresses Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty, aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992.
McClanahan was last seen earlier this year on NBC's Law & Order.
