HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Eminem is working on a tell-all memoir, which will include hand-drawn sketches, lyrics and journal notes, along with rare photos of the Detroit hip-hop star.
The memoir, entitled "Eminem: The Way I Am," is expected to hit shelves in the U.K. this October, according to Ian Preece, a senior commissioning editor at Orion Books.
"Everyone has their own take on Eminem," Preece said in a statement to British music journal NME. "Because of where he is from, people think they know where he is at, what kind of person he really is. This book cuts through all that and gets to the source."
Following the announcement, Eminem's team blasted the London-based publisher for leaking the news, saying the memoir is still a work-in-progess.
"There is no firm release date scheduled, although it is anticipated to arrive in the latter part of this year," a rep for the star told MTV News. "It's unfortunate that someone who does not have intimate knowledge of [the project] felt compelled to jump the gun on announcing it."
The 35-year-old Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has battled weight problems of late and was recently hospitalized with a case of pneumonia.
The singer's mom, Debbie Nelson, is planning to release her own tell-all book later this year. Nelson's, "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem," alleges her son made up his hard-knock childhood in order to have a successful rap career.
