HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Andre Young Jr., the 20-year-old son of rap mogul Dr. Dre, was found dead at home on Saturday morning, the Associated Press reports.
"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son," his rep said in a statement on Tuesday. "Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."
Young's body was discovered by his mother around 10:30 a.m. at the family's home in Woodland Hills, Calif. She immediately contacted medical personnel when she found him to be responsive, but efforts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Los Angeles County Coroner's spokesperson told MTV that Young had been out with friends the previous night. His mother told police that she had heard him in his bedroom after he returned home around 5:30 a.m.
An autopsy was performed Monday, but results are not expected for several weeks.
Dr. Dre, who has four other children — sons Curtis, 26, Marcel, 17, and Truth, 11, and daughter Truly, 7 — first rose to fame in the 1980s with the rap group N.W.A.
