WOBURN, Mass. — Dane Cook's half brother has been sentenced to jail for embezzling millions from the actor and comedian while working as his business manager.
Darryl McCauley, 45, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of larceny, forgery and embezzlement. He was sentenced to five to six years in prison and ordered to make restitution to Cook, the Associated Press reports.
Prosecutors said McCauley swiped more than $11 million while working as Cook's business manager, a role that earned him $12,500 per month from March 2004 until the day he was arrested in December 2008.
Cook previously discussed the embezzlement case when he appeared on Larry King Live in April 2009.
"It's a terrible betrayal," he told King. "But hopefully justice will be served and I can move on with my life."
