HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Dane Cook took a shot at Vanessa Hudgens during Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, but the well-hyped incident missed the cut.
The comedian's controversial jab at Hudgens was left on the cutting room floor when Fox aired the 11th annual ceremony on Monday night, which the network explained as simply a matter of limited time for the broadcast. Cook, however, knew he was pushing the envelope when he brought up the topic of the nude photo scandal surrounding Hudgens.
"Do you think that'll make the cut?' he asked Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson shortly after his remarks.
Cook was on hand to present the "Choice Hottie" award, but first he tackled the "elephant in the room" by giving Hudgens a piece of advice.
"Girl, you got to keep your clothes on," he warned Hudgens, who had a second batch of nude pics hit the Web last week. "Phones are for phone calls."
While the segment missed the broadcast, clips of it quickly surfaced on the Web. The reaction on the "High School Musical" star's face shows a drastic change after Cook delivers the blow.
"Mostly I just wanted it to be funny," Cook told Robinson of his controversial joke. "That's the best part about being a comic when you go, 'Maybe I can say the thing that everybody is kind of feeling and nobody [is saying].' The elephant in the room moment. So, I'll take it, I'll take the hit. It's OK."
