NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Eddie Montgomery of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
"I will be undergoing surgery to remove the cancerous tumor in December," the 47-year-old singer said in a statement. "I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans."
He added, "Please keep my family and I in your prayers."
Montgomery and partner Troy Gentry released their debut album Tattoos & Scars in 1999. They've notched several No. 1 hits over the years, including "If You Ever Stop Loving Me," "Something to Be Proud Of," "Lucky Man," "Back When I Knew It All" and "Roll with Me."
