HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Conan O'Brien is willing to take one for the team.
The 46-year-old comedian was injured Friday when he hit his head while taping a stunt for the "Tonight Show," NBC said in a statement Saturday.
O'Brien fell while taping a bit that was meant to poke fun at guest Teri Hatcher's recent triathlon.
"He slipped as he was crossing the finish line and hit his head," the actress told Entertainment Tonight. "And the thing was, I was in front of him so I didn't see it initially.
"He didn't get off floor right a way, but then he [seemed] like he recovered and [pulled] it together, and they did an instant replay, and you could really see his head hit the floor."
O'Brien was taken to a local hospital and later released. According to Hatcher, he suffered a concussion.
"I was just a wreck," she said. "We had a great day and it couldn't have been better — and then that was the ending to it, and it was awful; you don't want to see anyone get hurt."
NBC ended up running a rerun in place of the scheduled show, which was also slated to include Seth McFarlane.
O'Brien, who assumed the "Tonight Show" reins from Jay Leno in June, made light of his injury in a statement.
"Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice," he joked.
