HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Christina Aguilera has filed for divorce, just days after she confirmed a separation from husband Jordan Bratman.
The "Genie in a Bottle" singer filed her divorce papers Thursday morning in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, TMZ reports.
Aguilera listed the divorcing couple's date of separation as Sept. 11, 2010. She is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their 2-year-old son, Max.
Aguilera, 29, and Bratman, 33, married in California's Napa Valley in November 2005. There have been reports that the couple's marriage fell apart after Aguilera cheated on the music exec.
The Grammy winner recently discussed how the couple's son had impacted her marriage.
"Having Max has brought us closer together," Aguilera told the October issue of Cosmopolitan UK. "[Jordan] changed the first nappy while I was in bed recovering from my C-section – and he's been so hands-on ever since. When I see them together it makes my heart sing and melt at the same time."
