LOS ANGELES — Rocker and reality star Bret Michaels remains in critical condition after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage, his rep said on Saturday.
"There are several incorrect reports on Bret's condition," said the rep, addressing reports that the 47-year-old star was out of danger. "Bret remains in critical condition at an undisclosed location. Further tests are being run and information will be updated in the coming days."
The musician's father, Wally Sychak, told RadarOnline that his son was doing well despite being in intensive care.
"I talked to him this morning," he said. "He sounded upbeat and positive but they had him sedated... but he's doing good. He sounded like my son."
The brain hemorrhage is the latest setback for Michaels, who is a diabetic. Earlier this month, he underwent an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio after he fell ill just before he was about to take the stage for a concert at SeaWorld.
"I'm feeling right about in the middle right now on a scale of 1 to 10," Michaels wrote just days ago on his Fancast blog. "I'm not 100% yet, but I'm sure as hell not where I was when it happened. When your appendix ruptures if feels like what it would feel if you're on the losing end of a knife fight, so it takes a bit to recover from that."
Michaels rose to fame in the '80s as the frontman of glam-rock band Poison. He has since become a popular reality television figure. In addition to starring on VH1's Rock of Love, Michaels currently appears on the latest edition of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.
"I am deeply saddened to hear about Bret Michaels and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time," his Apprentice boss, Donald Trump, said Saturday in a statement. "He's a great competitor and champion and I hope he will be fine."
