HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Good news: Bret Michaels is making more progress after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage last Thursday.
His camp says the rock star "is responding well to tests and treatments" as doctors still seek to locate the source of the bleeding in his brain. The news comes after a minor setback yesterday when doctors determined Michaels had a side-effect called hyponatremia, a lack of sodium in blood that can cause seizures.
"While additional studies are planned throughout the week to hopefully detect the exact cause of the rupture, Bret will remain monitored closely by his medical team to make sure no further complications occur," his reps said on Wednesday. "He is responding well to tests and treatments. Even though yesterday was a minor setback doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday."
Another good sign: the rocker's team is already thinking about when Michaels will be back on his feet to perform again. The singer is expected to resume his Roses & Thorns tour on May 26, "provided there are no further complications or setbacks."
A tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd scheduled for June and July is also still on, his team said.
Michaels, 47, has spent the majority of the month in the hospital. Prior to suffering the brain hemorrhage, he underwent an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio after he fell ill just before he was about to take the stage for a concert at SeaWorld.
