HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is moving into a new home in Los Angeles.
The 24-year-old singer-actress has reportedly signed on for a leading role on the CW's upcoming "Melrose Place" spinoff.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Simpson-Wentz will portray Violet, a small-town girl who has recently transplanted to L.A. with a big secret. The character is said to resemble the Southern-belle-turned-startlet portrayed on the original "Melrose" by Amy Locane, says the trade paper.
The role comes seven years after Simpson-Wentz landed her breakthrough gig on the WB's "7th Heaven." She joins previously cast "Melrose" residents Michael Rady and Katie Cassidy on the new series.
Simpson-Wentz and her rocker husband, Pete Wentz, will soon guest star as a Bonnie-and-Clyde-type couple on an episode of "CSI: NY," which is scheduled to air March 18.
