HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor Kelsey Grammer suffered a mild heart attack over the weekend, his publicist announced Monday.
The 53-year-old star was paddle-boarding with his wife, Camille, in Hawaii when he began to "experience symptoms" similar to a heart attack. He was then taken a local hospital where doctors determined that he had suffered a mild heart attack, the star's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said in a statement.
Grammer is still hospitalized and is expected to be released sometime early this week.
The actor recently signed on to star in the ABC comedy pilot "Roman's Empire." The announcement came on the heels of his Fox sitcom, "Back to You," being cancelled earlier this month after one season.
Grammer rose to fame for his portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC series "Cheers." The character later led to the spinoff series "Frasier," which extended Grammer's portrayal of the psychiatrist for 20 years.
