HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Actor Chris Klein has checked into rehab after being arrested last week in Los Angeles on suspicion of DUI.
Klein, 31, is seeking treatment at the Cirque Lodge in Utah, his rep tells People, adding the former American Pie star plans to complete a 30-day alcohol addiction program and stay longer if necessary.
"After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years. He understands now that he can not beat this disease alone," his rep said in a statement. "He thanks everyone for their support as he takes all the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and asks for privacy while doing so."
Klein was pulled over early last Wednesday on the 101 Freeway after police noticed his vehicle weaving between lanes. He reportedly had a blood alcohol level that was more than twice the legal limit of .08.
This is the second time Klein has been busted on suspicion of DUI. He also faced drunk-driving charges in 2005 after police stopped him in San Diego County.
