While she states that she's strong enough to handle the media on her own, Reid does confess to being upset when the gossip hits close to home, specifically her mother.
"She called me one time after reading some gossip lies in the Post, and she said, 'Is it true Natalie?' I had to explain that I'm in the media a little bit now, and some of this is going to happen. It's definitely been difficult for her."
During those difficult times, Reid says that it is her family that keeps her strong and persevering through the storms.
"How I stay sane is I keep in constant contact with my mom," she says. "She's my ultimate hero and she gives me nothing but words of encouragement. She keeps me going and she pushes me."
While the media has portrayed her one way, Reid confesses that her recent shoot with Playboy was actually very challenging.
"I was really shy and insecure," the 5' 9" Reid says of the shoot. "I remember someone telling me, 'Oh, would you stop, you're posing for Playboy already!' It was weird to be naked all the time, but I don't think it was strange for the crew, because they're used to shooting with all these gorgeous naked women."
Reid says that the shoot for Playboy was one of the biggest challenges of her career to date.
"I've never worked so hard in a photo shoot," says Reid, who shot for 12 hours the first day and 10 the next.
The shoot with Playboy afforded Reid the opportunity to work with one of the best photographers in the world, Arny Freytag.
"He's an amazing photographer," Reid says. "I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to shoot with him. He was always smiling and I've never worked with such a happy-go-lucky photographer. He made me really comfortable."
