Hayden Panettiere was born and raised in Palisades, N.Y. She has one younger brother, fellow actor Jansen Panettiere.
Panettiere started her career by modeling professionally when she was just eight months old. By the time she was 11 months old, she had landed her first TV commercial for Playskool. Panettiere was already a veteran of more than 50 commercials when she landed a role at the age of 4 on "One Life to Live," a series in which she appeared from 1994 to 1997. She also had a role from 1996 to 2000 on another daytime series, CBS’ "Guiding Light." After her daytime run, Panettiere would go on to appear on such television shows as "Ally McBeal," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and "Malcolm in the Middle."
Panettiere made the leap to the big screen for the first time in 1998, appearing in "The Object of My Affection," in addition to voicing the role of Dot in "A Bug's Life." Her first leading film role was 2005’s "Racing Stripes." She has also had notable roles in "Remember the Titans" (2000, with Denzel Washington), "Raising Helen" (2004, with Kate Hudson) and "Bring It On: All or Nothing" (2006).
Panettiere skyrocketed to fame in 2006 with her role as Claire Bennet, the indestructible high school cheerleader on the hit NBC sci-fi series "Heroes."
