LOS ANGELES — Natalie Portman and Colin Firth won top acting honors at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night, adding further to their momentum heading into the Oscars.
Portman won best actress for her role in the ballet thriller Black Swan, while Firth earned best actor for his turn as King George VI in The King's Speech.
The King's Speech also took the prize for best ensemble cast.
In other movie honors, Christian Bale was named best supporting actor for his role in The Fighter and his co-star in the boxing flick, Melissa Leo, was named best supporting actress.
On the television side, HBO's Boardwalk Empire won best cast ensemble for a drama, while its star Steve Buscemi was named best actor in a drama.
ABC's Modern Family took the best comedy ensemble cast award.
Other top acting prizes went to Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Claire Danes (Temple Grandin), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Al Pacino (You Don't Know Jack) and Betty White (Hot in Cleveland).
The 17th annual SAG Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
