LOS ANGELES – Lewis Hamilton doesn't want to have a baby with Nicole Scherzinger - because he is worried it would make him a less "risky" Formula 1 driver.
The 26-year-old former world champion - who has been dating the 33-year-old singer for four years - does not want to start a family yet because he is afraid it will stop him from taking chances when he races.
When asked if he has any plans to have kids, he said: "I'm still young and I'm not in that position yet. It's a long way away.
"I think being slightly more risky in some ways is what separates the faster drivers from maybe the not-so-faster drivers."
Lewis believes older Formula One competitors who have kids are more inclined to slow up when they are racing behind the wheel because they have a responsibility to their family - and he doesn't want to be in that position at this stage of his life.
He added to the Daily Mail newspaper: "You see generally older drivers sometimes that have families kind of lose a little bit.
"David Coulthard said to me that when he had a child, 'I didn't want to risk much more because I wanted to make sure that I was there the next day to see my kid.' So he was willing to risk less and maybe that's natural."
