HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mirror, mirror on the wall, has Julia Roberts landed a nasty role?
The 43-year-old actress has finalized a deal to play the Queen in Relativity Media's untitled Snow White feature, Variety reports.
The movie will offer a modernized take on the Brothers Grimm fable, with Snow White teaming up with the seven dwarves in order to seek payback against her evil stepmother, who killed her father.
Tarsem Singh will direct the film, which is scheduled to begin shooting in April. It is slated to hit theaters on June 29, 2012 — six months before Universal rolls out Snow White and the Huntsman.
"Julia was our first and only choice to play the Queen," Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh told the trade magazine in a statement. "She is an icon, and we know that she will make this role her own in a way that no one else could."
Roberts was last seen in the movie adaption Eat Pray Love.
