NEW YORK — A Jersey Shore spinoff is in the works.
Paul DelVecchio, aka DJ Pauly D, has signed a series option deal with MTV for a new reality show that will focus on his expanding career away from the beach, the network has revealed.
"At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities," Chris Linn, executive vice president of programming and head of production for MTV, said in a statement. "He's distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can't help but want to hang out with. We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that."
A pilot for the series was shot in September by 495 Productions, the same company behind Jersey Shore.
DelVecchio has become a rising star thanks to Jersey Shore's success. He locked up a DJ residency in Las Vegas and was nominated for "America's Best DJ" honors for the second year in the row. He also released his first single with Universal Republic Records from the official Jersey Shore soundtrack.
