HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Anne Hathaway landed her dream guest role while attending the Golden Globe Awards.
The 28-year-old actress has struck a deal to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer's character on Glee, creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed.
"She walked by our table and we have a mutual friend and I said, 'Do you really want to do it?' And she said, 'I do.' And I said, 'OK, we're gonna do it,' " Murphy tells Access Hollywood of the deal sealed at Sunday night's ceremony in Beverly Hills.
Hathaway first pitched the idea back in November while appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
"In my head, I've cast myself in Glee and I know what song I'm going to sing!" she told Fallon. "I would wanna play Kurt's long-lost aunt's mother's sister who is also gay, who comes back to help him deal with his sexuality, and I would sing "You Are Not Alone" from Stephen Sondheim's epic show Into the Woods.
Murphy said The Devil Wears Prada star will likely film her guest role in the coming weeks. The episode's air date has not been revealed.
Glee won three times at the 68th Golden Globes, taking home prizes for best comedy and supporting acting honors for Colfer and Jane Lynch.
